The shared parking facility of the Science and Technology Park (PST) is part of Y-Parc’s sustainable mobility strategy, located in the southern area of the city of Yverdon-les-Bains.
This above-ground structure of seven storeys, approximately 20 metres high, features an ambitious landscape treatment: a fully vegetated façade planted with twining climbing plants. The spacing and height of the cables were specifically designed to meet the requirements of the selected species.
The first row of climbing plants, planted directly in the ground, covers the first three levels (9 m). Above this, two additional rows are installed in planters, spaced 6 metres apart. These planters incorporate a suitable substrate and an automatic irrigation system, ensuring the long-term sustainability of the vegetated cover.
In just a few months, the climbing plants – wisteria, aristolochia and hops – have colonised the façade, reaching almost its full height. The cables are fitted with breakaway points to anticipate the stresses caused by the increasing weight of the vegetation and wind effects.
At ground level, the landscape design supports a broader approach to soft mobility. It will ensure the connection to the future public square to the south-east of the parking structure. Permeable surfaces, native plantings and a flowering meadow strengthen the site’s landscape integration and ensure continuity with the surrounding municipal spaces.
