At the Campus Santé, the roofs become accessible, living landscapes, conceived as places for breathing, learning and encounter for the health professions. Vegetating these roofs helps to cool the campus by limiting heat-island effects; manage rainwater at the source through draining systems and substrates that retain and filter water; promote biodiversity by providing micro-habitats for a wide range of species; improve indoor comfort by stabilising temperatures and reducing summer overheating; and mitigate visual and acoustic disturbances by transforming technical roofs into landscaped horizons. Accessible via paths weaving through the plantings, they offer spaces for rest and meeting, as well as a living educational support where the cycles of climate, water and vegetation can be observed.
